Brief Analysis of Film Posters

Here are a few horror movie posters. I analysed these to establish the common codes and conventions they all consist of. I have found that:
• most horror film posters are very dark-themed.
• The images are edited and very surreal.
• The image is the main selling point and the most eye-catching feature.
• The images are over-powering the film title and almost acting like a logo for the film.
• The images used have all been edited to create a dark feel to them.
• There is a common use of the colour red, which is usually associated with the horror genre.

By looking at these posters it is evident straight away what genre the posters represent.
